Rules for pharmacy ingredients still apply

Federal rules checked on 26 September 2026 limit the ingredients in a pharmacy-made medicine for a named patient.

If an official written standard exists for the ingredient's quality, the ingredient must meet it. This is different from FDA approval of a finished medicine.

If there is no quality standard, the ingredient needs to meet one of these conditions:

It is used in an FDA-approved medicine.
It is on FDA's list of ingredients allowed for medicines made to order.

KPV met none of those conditions in the federal record reviewed in September 2026.

These federal rules did not allow a pharmacy to make KPV to order for a named patient as of September 2026.

That conclusion comes from the ingredient rules read alongside the KPV record.

A prescription does not make an ingredient allowed under these rules.
