KPV care notebook

Care choices, explained.

When KPV enters the conversation

Compare visit formats.

The format tells you how the conversation happens. Ask what the person providing care can learn from it.

Live video: questions in the moment

You and the doctor or other health professional speak at the same time. Plan somewhere you can hear, speak, and ask about anything that is unclear.

Before the visit, ask what happens if the video link fails.

Written exchange: answers at different times

You send the history of the problem. The person providing care reads it later and may come back with questions.

The care standard is the level of assessment expected for the problem being discussed.

Phone-only: ask why it fits the visit

A voice call leaves the camera out. Ask whether a phone call gives enough information about your problem, or whether video or an exam is needed.

Guidance checked on 26 September 2026 allows phone-only care when a patient cannot or does not want to use live video. It also allows a phone call when that meets the usual care standard for the service.

State rules can set different limits on phone-only care.

Bring the concern in your own words

A short note can keep the visit on track. Write what is happening, when it began, and what you want the visit to answer.

  • List the medicines and supplements already taken.
  • Note any allergies and past treatments.
  • Keep any test results you want to discuss nearby.

Leave room for a different decision

Ask what the assessment will cover if KPV is not offered. Ask whether the visit can consider other treatments or a referral.
